Nuclear M.tech is not recognized by AICTE. Please tell me wether Delhi university has apply or not for recognization to AICTE .
if not then tell me why ?
is there any adverse effect of this unrecognization on the Nuclear M.tech degree?

IIT JAM 2010 Results . So we decided to contact Senior trajectos and put their views on "Mtech Nuclear Science Technology Course" Which takes its admissions through JAM & Interview .
We interacted with Sunil , who is doing project work in Geneva as a part of Curriculum .

Course and Subject :

This course was started in 2008-09 . I am the first batch student for the course. Delhi university started the course with a lot of expectations for the course. This course was being prepared before 2008. As there were complications for the duration of the course, degree that to be provided to the students. Even funding for the course was also a big issue. But finally all this come to end by the courageous and hard work by Dr. R.K Shivpuri and their collegeous. He took a big step with firm determination to start the course, and the course started in year 2008.

The content of the course is not only decided by the university of Delhi but it is the combined format of BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE, DELHI UNIVERSITY, IPR, and some more reputed institutions in INDIA. So the course prepared has the full content nuclear science and by the efforts of DST,IPR,BARC, DU it has the glory of technology immense in the course. In this way it has the combined flavor of science and technology as it resembles by the name of the course “nuclear science and technology”. This is a 3 years dual degree program between university of Delhi and university of Paris SUD-11. In this way university of Paris does also play a big role in the course. Though people in France speak French but this course has been designed in English so all the teachers teach in English only.

The course subjects are really good. They give the full flavor of the nuclear science. They all have the potential to realize the fact. Starting from the quantum mechanics, radiation detection …....... all the subjects are awesome. They provide the full knowledge of nuclear science. So in India for the first semester i read the basics of nuclear science. Then for the training of mechanical kind of works we had an arrangement of one training session in Delhi College of Engineering. From here i get the lesson of self dependence and tools to know that how i have to manage my work.

There was also a schedule of INMAS (institute of nuclear medicines and allied science). Here we were taught for the nuclear medicines and the use of nuclear radiation for the diseases. For the very first time we were shown a accelerator, this was of very small energy. But it was great to watch it.

Then in the second semester the course study advances. It is replaced by the technology and engineering. Here we got the knowledge of C,C++, accelerator, numerical methods, radiation fields, etc. so in this way the second semester is the package of technology. Here we came to know very exiting field of accelerators. After finishing the second semester we have a great chance to visit the premier institute of nuclear science i.e BARC (Bhabha atomic research center). Here we get the true exposure of the nuclear field. We have different kind of departments here and we got the chance to visit the departments. The faculty of each department has the responsibility for our studies there. So it is a very good place to see and ones feels proud.

After this all I was being sent to Paris,France for your further studies. The courses are being offered by the university of Paris SUD-11 . France is famous for his electricity production from nuclear power. They offer you all different type of courses related to the reactors. The courses offered are as :

nuclear engineering, nuclear plant design, reactor operation, nuclear waste and decommissioning, fuel recycling. These all the courses offered has their own beauty. I was in reactor operation. It is really a good course. I could come to know the complications of the nuclear reactor. The standard of the teaching is very high and it is quite different from India. This is totally application based studies here. So one has the real taste of applications of the technology. Here you are being taught for all the aspects of the reactor operation.

The quality in this all is that all the teachers who came to taught wee not actually teachers from the professions. They all were professionals of their field and were working personalities in the field. Due to this reason all of them have experience of their field. Which was something amazing. Because they can tell and share his experience.

According to the course structure of the university you may be obelized to work in industry for the five months. So you may be asked to complete your internship here. You will have a great chance to apply all the things what you have read during the studies starting from INDIA. So it is really something nice and enjoyable. so for the five months you may have the exposure of the industry or any research institute.

Avenues and opportunities..........

this is a course of complete fledge of nuclear science. During the course you have great opportunities to meet the professionals and the teachers of different fields. You can share the views also. Like before INMAS we had never seen the use of nuclear science for the medical purpose on such a large scale. This was a nice experience to feel the use of it for the mankind, later we had opportunity to go to the Delhi college of engineering . Which was a nice experience; then after completing the second semester we had a golden chance to reach Mumbai for BARC. Here we enjoyed both the life and institution. So you have a full opportunity to go to BARC.

Later on you have opportunity to get the exposure of studies foreign. Which is totally different in this all. you will see the life and the way of studies here in foreign. Which is totally different in comparison to India.

Careers and opportunities after doing m.tech from DU …............

the career after completing the course from the university is very bright. Because you have exposures of the different leading institutes in their fields of India. So your CV is full of wonders now. After completing the course you may have the chance of job first of all in any of the reputed research institutions and labs. If you are very good then you may got the chance to have placements in foreign also. You have chance to apply for the BARC also. Having so more knowledge and experience you are a complete package in yourself of nuclear science. So you can apply in the foreign also by your strong CV. You have very good chance to get the strong package.

You are being recognized as a nuclear scientist, researcher, safety officer in reactors, operator of the reactor, plant designer,.......... so the horizons of the course are very good. You have chance to develop you career as a scientist being in research labs and a professional both by working in industry.

Experience …..........

I have just spend two years in this course till now. At the time of interview there were 74 candidates if I remember exactly and the seats available were only 14; so I was very nervous. But it was happiest moment for me when I cracked the interview. Then I realize the world of true nuclear science. Before this I had no interest in this field. But it generated a lot of interest in my self. Going to different reputed institutes and having the exposures of leading institutes like BARC and then university of paris really changed my view to see the life. I had never being an idea that I will get a chance to study abroad also. I always thought this is for the rich persons only. But see this is not as I had thought.

I feel the teachers here are professionals to their work. They are ready to help you at any moment and for any kind of favour that may really affect you or it is related to you. So in all being in this course is one of the best part of my life and I have seen all the heights of success starting from ZERO.
